I can assure you I've never called anyone's saw a peice of crap.
I'll send you my 046 that I "ported" using a belt sander, junk piston with a sharpened piece of file screwed to the top of it to cut the squish and a dremel...after drinking 8-10 beers. You may just end up eating those words. Lemme know when you're ready.

Whats the point? Why is this so important? Ive ran this saw against a few and Im satisfied with the way mine runs??!! Lol! What am I proving or u proving by comparing them?
It's not about your saw its about the saw I did would run a 50" full comp 404 bar no problem,I could pry on it so when I hear it wouldn't run a 24" with skip on it i know something is bad wrong with it.

If the new owner has that problem I hope he will send it back.
It left me very strong and won't run a 24" when it gets to la so it has to be broken.

There's several videos of that saw and it was stout, how can it be possible? It has to be tuned extremely poor or its blew up
There's no other option.

Cant anwser that friend but only tell ya how it ran but it didnt appear to be anything a miss on it. I didnt look into it but only made several cuts with it and handed her back to her owner.

Lower exhaust, lower transfers, compression, etc? More than one way to skin a cat. For instance when I ported a 241 i gutted the strato and raised the transfers to about 120 and had great lean on. I couldnt leave well enough alone so I took them on up to 117. That was a mistake. Still cut good but killed the lean on and every 241 Ive seen has great lean on from the factory. U can definetely make a turd as I learned and u know this for sure as u have a ton more experience than I do and that I respect u for. Ive ported a few myself to know the difference in one than can be leaned on and one that cant
That hybrid is 99 123 81 I believe with 185 or 190lb of compression, what should I have done differently so it could be leaned on? I'm serious.

Porting raises the power band and prying on one to slow rpm and make it stronger seems the opposite of what porting does.

Shoot I cant anwser that but only tell ya how it ran for me . It had a ton of rpm in cut and was very fast but just fell on its face when leaned on alil. John said she was tuned to 14000 and it had a new Oregon square 404 half skip with a 24" Stihl es widenose. It reminded me of a few hybrid 440s Ive ported and took alil too far on the exhaust and transfers but still cut really well but needed a light touch

So are we saying all of Jason's saws have no torque or just the one that pulled a 50" 404 full comp like a boss?

Just curious....

I can't complain about my 64. But the biggest it's wore is only a 28" full comp with 8 pin, and it still pulled strong. And I do have heavy hands.

Would be nice to see some pissing contest videos to see who has the most "torque" you guys speak of

I really need to run a saw that you can lean on and that's why I want you to send me your saw.
If it will out noodle the 394 like John said with a 32" 404 8pin I've got to run it,it's not quite as fast as Al's hybrid but I've got to send it home this week,Shaun's 395 is coming to so maybe it will beat it to.
I'm excited to run it

His saws run just fine. Probably just operator error on our part or setup on tune/ chain error

Since we are talking about noodling
This saw is ported the same but I think johns was faster. This is 404 full comp
Does it take tourqe to run it?

See thats the deal. I dont have a clue about 32 " 404 8 pin and all that nor have a need to find out if this 390 will. I set this saw up to noodle pieces about 22" to 24" long and about 20 to 30" around or alil bigger wood and it does a wonderful job at that. I hope I dont have to cut anything bigger than that!! Lol!! I have no need for a 50 " bar as a 28 with a 7 pin 404 will do all I need and running a 32 or 50 bar will do absolutely nothing for me and Im sure the 390 would loss ground out that far

Your porting saws now just like mine with the way I do transfers and the numbers I use,do they have tourqe or do you have to go easy on them?

I like you, enjoy the 390. I believe you will never win this debate, your saw has cheap feeling plastic, does not handle well and lacks power according to others. Put my hands on a 661 today at local Stihl dealer today, nice saw, but will never own one. Just did not like the feel of that saw and have you ever noticed Stihl's, after one season of normal use look worse than a 10 year old Husky.

A saw built for torque is not going to spin as high/hard as most.

Less duration ex/transfers with good- high comp is going to fill the cylinder better/more efficient at a lower rpm where torque is made, compared to the same saw with higher durations/larger ports.

That is why I think some saws can be leaned on harder than others.

I do believe a saw can be built strictly for clutch smoking torque. But that saw is not going to look impressive at all, expecially in a video.May even be slower than stock with the same bar/chain.

But you could stand on the saw through the cut.

Pretty pointless argument really. if you want a saw you can lean on, go rescue any 6 cube mac/homelite geardrive and lean till ya heart content.
