Mr. Gandy, I hate to be the one to tell you this. But, they think your 390 is crap, just like mine.;)
Well I just happen to know she will pull 28" of 404 fullcomp buried with BALLS!!!!:D. Thats about all I ask out of her noodling and she delievers and is one hell of a worksaw. Cant say that I dont like a 661 for the balance , feel, and the mtronics though. Id love to have a 661r set up for noodling with 404

At 14.7 it's to lean to have any tourqe.
It won't run a 25" 404 skip chain?
At 13.5k it will destroy a 50" 404 full comp
That is sharp. How can it do this but not run a skip 25"? Tune is terrible or its blew up. You sold it so there's no chance of comparing the 2.

The saw was tuned at 14000 on the very first 4 cuts. And as far as comparing the saw is very very attainable. I'm not here to go tit for tat. It doesn't matter to me. You build one hell of a saw. But some people prefer diff set ups and some people build other saws very well.

I agree. Whats right for one isnt right for another. I personally like my saws to be able to be leaned on as thats my cutting style, being it right or wrong, and if I cant lean on it alil its a no go for my personal taste

I don't understand "lean on"
If I can pry on it with a full comp 404 and a 50" buried up then how can it not with a 25" with skip?
I've been at this a very long time and I've asked this question many times and have never once got a answer. How does one go about porting a saw for tourqe?

I've always found that if it's fast with one bar it's fast with any bar.
I also don't have a single chain that you can pry on.

Maybe heavy handed vs guys that use light pressure when bucking and cutting.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

Please do compare them with the same bar and chain.

It ain't got anything to do with the saw or that it's a 390,it's the chain and nothing else.

Exactly. Ive ported alota saws that could be leaned on and ones that had to be light handed but still cut good. Light handed saws arent good for work to my liking

If you lean on a bar while cutting, all you really do is wear the bar out. In my opinion. It is OK to use some pressure, but too much is not good.

Lower exhaust, lower transfers, compression, etc? More than one way to skin a cat. For instance when I ported a 241 i gutted the strato and raised the transfers to about 120 and had great lean on. I couldnt leave well enough alone so I took them on up to 117. That was a mistake. Still cut good but killed the lean on and every 241 Ive seen has great lean on from the factory. U can definetely make a turd as I learned and u know this for sure as u have a ton more experience than I do and that I respect u for. Ive ported a few myself to know the difference in one than can be leaned on and one that cant

If I have to lean on one too much I stop and sharpen the chain and if that doesnt do it Ill lower some rakers

Tune and chain are what let's you pry on one. I don't care what saw you have you can't pry on it with my chain

The leaner a saw is the more grunt it looses. The faster you tune it the easier it will be to bog.

Has anyone watched the 50" video?
Do you think that saw won't run a 25" full skip chain? If that's the case and I'm being very honest, it has to have something very wrong with it and needs to be sent back to me,it has to be blown up.

Mr. Gandy, I hate to be the one to tell you this. But, they think your 390 is crap, just like mine.;)
I've offered to pay shipping to compare them and I'll pay shipping for yours.

Please show me where I said your saw was a peice of junk or crappie?
I can assure you I've never called anyone's saw a peice of crap.

I'll pm you my address and let me know what shipping is and I'll pay it.

Do you still have the 241 you went too high on the transfers with?

Nice. What model is that Echo? A little fat on the H. Lol

Might sound fat but cleans up in the cut no problems. Maybe sounds fat cause it's a twin. I haven't tacked it but they only go up to 11 or 12k. And with a shortage of pistons around the world I rather be on the side of caution [emoji1360]
