I've just got myself a 359 . What's the advantage of going to a 357 piston and cylinder .Seems like a good runner! I have a 359 sitting here and a 357 cylinder I've been contemplating mating. But it's a perfectly good running saw lol. Just minor mods. And I already have a minty ported 359 so no fun in porting another 359. Seems like the 357 cyl without stuffers runs pretty strong.
The 357 has them...More power according to stock specs, but I don't know if the 357 is supposed to have crank stuffers, or if the 395 has them.
I like the saw, but who could like that tree?
Boy it's a shame that they aren't going to make any more of those or gas powered ones.
No one apparently. Been here 2 years. So Test Log it isI like the saw, but who could like that tree?
Darn strong Kev!
I prefer the stuffed 357. I've run ported example of both. If you like long/wide [lower rpm] torque, go 59. If you like high peak powa, go 57. 2 different reputable porters told me their best job on each would yield the stuffed 357 winning a race.

Knew that. That's correct info. But, these guys talking about 357 cyl on a 359 (unstuffed 357). Some builders who have done this combo and ported them have had some great results. But any way you cut it, it's all personal preference I suppose.
