My findings are similar: 90cc-28", 75cc-24", 60cc 20" when using non low profile full comp chain, those combos will not leave you begging for more power when buried in hard wood.I like roughly 25cc's for every 8 inches of bar length. 50cc=16"b/c, 75cc=24"b/c, 100cc=32"b/c. I cut Ozy hardwoods, but if you stay close to that formula you'll rarely ever wish you had more saw. It really depends on your conditions though, some guys happily run a 28" b/c on a 60cc saw in softwoods.
I used to buy into that, but found the 4" between a 24" bar and a 28" doesn't amount to a hill of beans if you keep you chain in good shape. A mm helps too. Maybe in Australian hardwood it will make a little differance, but not anything we have in the US. I believe it's more of a perception thing.[emoji111]My findings are similar: 90cc-28", 75cc-24", 60cc 20" when using non low profile full comp chain, those combos will not leave you begging for more power when buried in hard wood.
90cc can run 32", 75cc can run 28", 60cc can run 24" but that's pushing it power wise and oiler wise for a stock saw in hardwood, you'd just about feel like you have a scaled up poulan.
I like skip chain for noodling. It makes some long noodles. I made some and used them for kindling to build a campfire so my grandkids could make smores. Is skip tooth chain an option? I like skip tooth on longer bars in hardwoods.
I've used mine for stump grinding, the saw is made so well the chain never gets dull.[emoji90]Now I really gotta try a 7900 after seeing the reviews!
