I couldn't wait.
The rat 064 project was ready to go minus a new carb that's in the mail.

I pulled the bing apart and its really good inside so I thought.... Bugger it, I want to fire this thing up.

Bolted on the bing 49 carb and off she went.

All I can say is WOW.

It just sounds angry, with a real punchy crackle to it.
Its super snappy, hell, it goes kinda like one of them saws Jason builds.

Cant wait to get it in some timber now

Jay, can I ask what your tuning method is to get the best from these things?
I know its going to be a bit different with every saw but I would like to pick your brain on method.

At the moment, on a saw like this that has been fired for the first time, I get it so it will idle and rev then lean it and see what max revs are.
I adjust LA to get it to lean up to about 3200 and then richen it out to a nice idle.

It works but I am wondering if there are ways to get a better tune for that super snap of the throttle?

I rarely use the la,it's usually backed out and not touching.

I start at 1 and 1 with the la not touching, get it hot and turn the low in till I hear it go lean, listen for the tone change, then I back it just off lean and set the high to whatever you want.

Jason. Is retuning necessary when you switch rims?
