We're on the same sheet of music, rust convertor is less than 20 dollars a quart. 5 cans of paint is less than 6 dollars. End result is the same.

I got turned off to rust converter 20 years ago when I was painting a truck. The rust came back within a year. I wonder if the formulas have improved?

I've had good results with the product and for the life of me I cannot remember the name. It turns to a white powder and I paint over it.

I've never had it stop the rust but it does slow it down.

Interesting!
The stuff I've used turns the rust black...

Lol!
I was cheating!
I figured when I posted it that it would be seen here more. It really doesn't belong here. I'm sorry to offend you...[emoji23]
@Jon1212 can you move this to a more appropriate subsection?
Thanks!

Thank you. What is its function? Allow the tank to vent without letting fuel vapor out?
It is part of the evap system. The evap system controls the emissions that comes from the gas tank. The vapor canistor/ charcoal canistor is filled with charcoal. The charcoal stores the fumes from the gas tank while the engine is not running. Then once the engine is warm and other parameters are met the purge solenoid opens allowing vacuum from the intake manifold to suck the vapors into the engine and the engine burns the vapors.

I've heard of people mixing atf and bar oil and spraying the undercarriage with it.

I used rustoleum rusty metal primer, and top coated with their gloss black, both with a brush. It's considerably cheaper, and actually preferred on a few forums I looked at. Nothing is going to stop the rust in our neck of the woods. All we can hope to do is slow it down

I've used rusty metal primer on a trailer and a truck frame. I was going to post a pic but the photobucket app is not working.
