This method holds up well you just compensate with the rakers for self feed.
It's more like what makes square cut better.
I never done square, gonna try in the near future though. What angle are you using on the side plate and file size? I have mine set to 10 degrees. I have some other chain here I'm gonna try and make look like yours.

I was just playing with this loop. It had taken damage and I turned it into an experiment.

It is. The carbide cutters leave a very smooth finish. You can see the sky/ground reflection...

We've been saw nuts for the last few weeks. Looking forward to the weekend. He's coming along. Had me put a fresh edge on his square 325 on the jonny. If you wanna go fast, you have to turn to the dark side. Watch someone who knows how a few times and you'll convert. Gains are crazy! Only drawback is file cost.

I've been reading and watching videos on how to square file. Wanted to try my hand at it before the gtg but decided I better stick with round.

Good lord that's a nice finish! Looks mighty sharp at the very least, I often wonder about investing in a timberline however with the USG in the shop I just can't justify it

What USG angles are you using? For the 1, 2, 3 on the USG chart if you get me
If you look in Redbulls chain test he tried my 20-20-40 and seems to like it for smoothness ,just do not grind too deep into the gullet when grinding ,will get too much hook ,a lot of it is eyeballing the angles till you are happy with the shape .
