Well, I'm down to my last 30 rounds of the late great IMR 4756. I wonder what a good load would be for Accurate #5 with the Lee 125 grain lead boolit?

Took advantage of the day off to try some stronger loads in the Rossi with Accurate #5 and the Lee 125 at 62 yards. The loads were 7 through 8.2 grains of powder. The 7 and 7.2 grains in the upper left were fired with the sun in my eyes so I had to adjust my position. That 7.8 grains is really tight, I think I'll switch to that in both .357's as long as it shoots good in the Marlin.PXL_20251128_172919557.MP.jpg

Ok, I'm sticking with this load in my .357's from now on! 5.8 grains Hodgdon HP-38, .360 Lee 358-158-RF, CCI SPM primer. Shoots exactly the same as my pet load with the Lee 358-125-RF bullet.

Just for fun, I tried 6.0, 6.2, and 6.4 grains of HP-38 with the same bullet and primer at 85 yards. The trajectory improved some but accuracy was much worse, also the 6.4 grains produced noticeable bulging of the brass in the Rossi 92. The Rossi has sort of an oval shaped chamber and this is a known issue with them. I'm just going to stick with 5.8 grains, if I ever decide I want more speed I'll use a slower powder.
