.Does anyone know what aftermarket crank seals are used on the SL9 & SL10 saws?TIA!

Do you have a size Ed?

Ideal would be the pocket diameter and the crank diameter where the seal rides. Width would be good too.

No Tim I don't.I haven't pulled the seals out of the saw yet & it looks like a real biotch to do it too.

If you do get them out, let me know the size and I'll see if I can find a replacement.

I know it’s old already but best place to go
After you get them out is a bearing supply store. Motion industries had pages and pages of metric and standard double and single lip oil seals.

I have never messed with a Remington saw but just had a 660 land on my work bench. I've got it running but what ratio should I be running in the fuel? 32:1?

As long as you use a quality oil and have the saw tuned properly you can use whatever ratio you choose. The old 10:1, 16:1, 24:1 etc. were days when the oil quality was inconsistent at best and the only safe option was more oil.

With most modern oils 32:1 will probably not cause any ill effects but is by no means necessary. I run everything on the same 40:1 Saber mix including the two man (McC 7-55, 99) and 50's vintage saws.

Mohawk was a sub brand 0f Remington?

I have a Mohawk bolt gun. Slightly cheaper version of a Remington 600.

As I understand, Remington first produced the 600, then the 660, then went back to the 600 and adding the Mohawk name.

I've got a few Remingtons that I've never done a thing with them PL 4 and PL 5 .They appear to mimic the Homelite xl 12 by design . The guy that had them, near Dayton Ohio must have had 200 saws .My only reason to look him up was to get a couple of donors for repairs for my neighbors Homelites his dad had .I came home with half a truck load all gifted .We did get the old Homelite running again though .

I believe that bare wire should go to ground where it is equipped with points or the chip.

Had someone contact me this week with an SP105 that had been equipped with a chip that did not perform well, I suggested he switch the leads around and voila, the saw returned to peak performance.
