I think either way you do it you’ll get good results. Any thoughts on where you’re going to set the intake? I put mine at 80 and it runs nice. Uh, not nice. I meant mean and scary braaaaaap!

What did you set ur timing at if u don't mind me asking? Was the build for rpm or torque?
I don’t have a lathe so I don’t have the compression that you will have with machining. That aside I set my numbers at 100/118/80 and luckily I got 185psi with .032 squish. I didn’t raise the transfers at all, it had 15 degrees of blow down stock and I wanted a little more. The intake was at 72 before gasket removal and grinding. I also widened both intake and exhaust to maximum extent while keeping the skirt supported and pins not exposed. Disclaimer; this was the first 394 I’ve ground on so please don’t mistake my limited experience for expertise. I assume you wouldn’t, just being honest. Can’t wait to hear yours run:)
@RIDE-RED 350r built a mean 394 with a big assist from @srcarr52

20 BD
80 Intake
More compression isnt allways better, if I wasnt at 240# now, I'd pull 0.005 more off the base and call it 99/119/80.5

I might just do a little more spinning and take off the 0.005 anyway .................................. ;)

Just checked, 98/116/80 with I want to say .023 squish. @srcarr52 cut base and squish and raised the transfers for me. I did the exhaust and intake work with his guidance. Compression came in at 210 psi after initial assembly.

Also going to have to wait on a 90 degree hand piece also
That's exactly why Shaun raised my transfers. I would not have been able to raise them as much as needed for his base and squish specs with the tools I currently have at my disposal.
