I wonder if it takes the FI time to figure out that it needs to flow more fuel?

It doesn’t seem to, running a 32 semi skip 8 pin sprocket in bar length plus wood stock wasn’t bad at all. Now with a 32 or a 36 it does pull a little better with a 7 pin sprocket well bucking the saw was 4 stroking in the cut.

Wow. Ok. I didn't realize that the saws adjusted that quickly. Better to be slightly on rich side anyway. TY

Gaskets are easy enough to make if needed.

They don't at all. My boss wanted to try a modded cover for his and it immediately took to it like a duck to water.

What length of bar are you guys running? One thing I’ve noticed in my little bit of time running falling timber is on the longer bar with more cutters these saws (500i) are happier. That said I could run an 8 pin before the cover but you feel the engine wasn’t working as hard when cutting with the 32 8 pin. When I jumped up to the 36 I dropped to a 7 pin and had it 4 stroking well bucking.

That particular 500 is rocking a "25 inch" stihl reduced weight bar and 7 pin sprocket. Plenty of guts for that setup.
