I don’t use this saw much as I have other saws I prefer to use, 550xpg,462, even my Muffler modded stihl 250 and husky 350. However this saw has sentimental value to me as it was my best buds saw who has passed away.

After the saw warms up, maybe 2-5 minutes of cutting the chain will keep spinning after the cut for like 10-15 seconds. The first few cuts the chain will stop like it should. The original owner always used his chain brake and had a habit of putting the brake on early before the chain had come to a complete stop.

Another issue I’m having is I can hear a noise that sounds like BB’s rattling. I can’t pin point when exactly it happens. Sometimes I can hear it faintly when I rotate the chain when it’s off if I move the chain fast enough. Thoughts? Would this be related to above?

This saw was ran hard with minimal if any maintenance. Lots of Alaska winter use.

Thanks I’m advance, first post but years of using this forum for knowledge.

I'd pull the clutch drum and look at the drum bearing and clutch, personally.

Clutch looks like it got a little hot but still serviceable, if it were mine I'd definitely install a new clutch drum/bearing and some clutch springs.

Set of springs at my favorite Stihl dealer is $5 out the door.

Good investment. [emoji106]
