I actually like those uglies, lots of heat and long burn times because of how dense the grain is.
Same here. Something satisfying about picking up a piece you remember being a *b-word to split too, and then burning it.

Slackers!

I noodle big knots down in size so they fit my cast iron fireplace.

Knotty oak makes for long lasting heat and a heap of embers.
I've been missing that having burned beech this last winter.
The only benefit I see burning beech is a super clean chimney, never had to not have to clean my chimney during a winter season before.

If I am going to pay full price for a firewood logs load I damn sure want oak, or to be precise turkey oak.
Anything else I'll take for a reduced price.

Yeah it's definitely going to be a off pace year for me. Never really cut in the spring and summer. So that in itself is going to be a big adjustment. If I can keep away from the heavy lifting I should be fine (praise the lord for plenty of equipment). Don't need to pop my l3 out again and get a lecture from the doc.

Any chance for a mini GTG.
A couple guys with saws and maybe a splitter or two could take care of those loads while You secure drinks and a barbecue? o_O

I all too often end up bucking other peoples firewood logs for much less than that.
That will have to change though, even if it means less trigger time for me.
It is just a whole lot of work and time spent on others while I do my own work on my own.

Always a possibility. I've been nibbling away at it. Not too concerned about it. I'll get it done before winter gets here.

Edit: I should add, I'll probably call the Calvary in if I don't get it done by early/mid August. Not in a panic yet.

Smoker wood.

Most likely. Most of my pecan customers use it for smoking. I sell it to whomever for whatever though. I personally do not have a smoker; but I will use a little in the firepit to roast some hotdogs and smores :)
