Nice job there Randy, great to see one of those great saws come back to life.

What length bar is that?

Every time I run my MS440 (like yesterday) I mentally thank you, as I just bought a new piston, cleaned the cylinder using your method, and basically reclaimed a low hour saw from the dead! It even came to me with brand new HD-2, fuel filter & plug. I presume they lean burned it after tuning it (Hi was set 1/4 turn out instead of Low).

I agree that more intake might give it a little more snot. I tend to think about fuel usage, and idle quality maybe a little more than I need too.

I'm hung up on building "the perfect work saw".

When we worked on cars with points we always replace them with electronic ignition. Just results in trouble free performance.

Nice job on the 041, but I would still keep it away from the 044s!
