What twist is the barrel? 40gr seems light

It’s a factory barrel with a 14” twist.. I have loaded 50gr vmax also, but I like the 40’s for the velocity when I’m in SD after prairie dogs. My theory is: More velocity equals less flight time, less flight time equals less wind influence. And so far I’ve been happy with the lighter pills out to about 400 yards.

And yes, I load these on top of Varget. I choose Varget because of its temperature stability.

Much better rifle then 700 Remington and many others.
I will agree with that statement. I like my ruger actions honestly as far as field guns. Have several Mauser actions as well.
I specified not so much on the 70’s myself due to the fact that I can’t recall ever even having handled one.
2 m77mkii rifles and 2 maulers the rest at AR’s or JM Marlin lever guns mostly.

The Ruger and Mauser are both controlled feeding like the M70s. I’ve had a ton of different brands and most of them outshoot the trigger puller anyway. [emoji2359]

That is the exact reason why I like both of these actions I know rugers aren’t known for their top notch benchrest accuracy but they do pretty well for what I use either of these bolt actions for.
The large ring “Mauser” I have is chambered in 35 Whelen and one of my lever guns is 35 rem. I like .358 bullets. My current 35 Whelen load with Speer hotcor 250 gr is pushing 2625fps with no signs of pressure 2”@ 100yds with irons. Hornady 200 gr Superformance pushes average 3040 FPS out of my bbl but it flattens primers sane group. Haven’t ever sat down to work up a load for my 35 Remington. .308 LR308 and 6.5 upper to go with it are both .5 or less moa@ 100 haven’t gotten to stretch either of these out any further yet though.
308 load are el cheapo Speer btsp 18.99/100 bullets and milsurp DeMilled preprimed brass.

Excellent thread. Planning out a 6.5 creedmor ar10 build with krieger barrel and some other goodies, hope to have everything planned out in the next couple weeks and then start getting all parts ordered.

Fun build you have planned there.

I've been kicking around the idea of putting an ar10 together chambered in 22 creedmoor

Thanks N8, been wanting to do this for a long time, kind of a bucket list item for me, so moving forward with it.

I cant say i know much about the 22 creedmor, but i am a fan of the AR platforms - my vote is for you to build it :neng2kb:

20190824_191902.jpgVudoo ravage 22LR. Set up in the front yard here shooting to the back of my property I can squeeze out 300 yards. 20190824_192116.jpg six shots at 300 on a 10" plate. Wind got the other four. Wind is a tricky devil with a 22 out that far.

The bag in the pic carry's a small rear bag, a sig kilo, my notepad and spare ammo. It goes just about everywhere with the gun. I range most everything I shoot at distance, if I make a hit I write it down.
I've got my whole back yard and neighboring property mapped out in it lol.
Got a crow the other day at 207.

Looks like a toy, but shoots oh so smooth. Got this years and years ago. Got it in trade for a chain spinner/breaker.
Sold it to buy a cheap carry pistol for my ex. Both are long gone. Guy I sold it to said he would let me know if he ever decided to get rid of it. Turns out he was a man of his word, so I now own it again. Wife bought it back for me Christmas before last(for a LOT more than I gave or was paid for it). She is better than I deserve(sometimes).
Its got some "character", but still in good shape for the shape its in.

They are getting hard to find especially those colors, most are overpriced and abused. I'm trying to find a decent deal on an Apache 77 which is proving impossible.

The green ones are most rare. From a distance they almost look like the brown ones.
