E5 gas is 1.53€/liter or 6.39$/gallon here in Croatia.
I filled up my cars tank yesterday, flat 70€.

I don't drive a lot so it doesn't bother me too much.

There is zero doubt the state taxes are an issue. The prices I quoted were Iowa prices 5 miles away. You would drop a turd at the Illinois prices due to our communist tax.

I do have to wonder though what ethanol blend the gas you quoted is and if that diesel is soy fuel.

The 87 pump says 10% ethanol. The prices have gone way down in the past week. They opened a new sheetz across the road, guess their having price wars. I paid 3.28 last week in a nearby town. 90 rec fuel is only available at a few places and I paid 4.29 last time I got some.

I remember the first time I put $30 of gas in a vehicle. It was in a 1994 Ford Ranger and that was probably in about 1999 or 2000. It was a 2.3/5 speed/2wd and would get around 20mpg. I drove a bit over 80 miles a day to work then. I also remember the first time I put $100 of gas in a truck. It was a 2001 Dodge 2500. That was maybe in 2009 or so. It was a 4x4, long bed, ext cab with a 360 junk auto. It got maybe 12mpg. Then a 2003 F250 4x4, ext cab, short bed, 5.4 auto. It got about 12mpg. Next a 2005 F350 4x4, 4 door with a V-10 auto. It never passed a gas station.

My car gets about 30mpg, mixed driving conditions.

Best I ever got with it is 35mpg on the highway fully loaded, 1000km trip.

Worst I ever got was 26mpg, letting the engine idle to warm up at freezing temps in the winter is a mpg wrecker.

Near Green Bay, WI $9.99 for 110 octane racing fuel. I bought $20 worth for grins and giggles. I did the ethanol test on it today and there‘s none in it. Must be loaded with lead.

Folks think I am joking when I say we had a normal gas station here that sold Turbo Blue race fuel. They had a 500 gallon above ground tank. In the summer it was Turbo Blue and in the winter it was Kerosene. I bought a little there but generally bought my race gas at the track off the fuel truck. We had some fuel trucks that sold CAM 2. This was 32 years ago so I have no idea what the popular fuel is today.

We have gas stations here that have red diesel at the pump. It is extremely popular but the oil company owning the stations is screwing folks on the tax. The federal tax is 24.4 cents and the Iowa tax is 32.5 cents. The total tax is 56.9 cents. As of last week................
Road diesel $3.60
Off road diesel $3.20
Now I am not the sharpest crayon in the box but simple math says that is only 40 cents less when it should be 57 cents less.

I know a guy who took off from around Madison WI heading to south of St. Louis Mo to pick up a Titan Blue streak and a couple other saws. For whatever reason he took a trailer when the saws would have fit in the Jeep he was pulling it with. He made it back to Northern Illinois when the old rusted hitch finally gave way on the highway. He ended up loaded teh saws in the Jeep and going home.

No it was not me.

That happened in the small town nearest to me. Dump truck pulling a trailer with a backhoe on it. Trailer came loose, (no safety chains), as he was starting across a bridge. Trailer passed him and hit a small car head on. Driver was seriously injured.

The seasonal pre buy from our supplier is $1.75/gal for leased tank, and $1.70/gal for customer owned tanks.
