Just picked up my second 262xp with the KS/87 combo. Needs a few bits but overall it will make a good backup to my other 262 and 272.

I was also told early 262’s had the orange on the “XP” portion of the recoil decal, a dead giveaway for a KS/87.

Not sure if this saw has the original starter, but it seems NOT to be the case on this 1990 model year.

I’m just happy to have TWO 262’s with the KS/87 combo.

My gut says the recoil was swapped but I’ll never know for sure.

Does your 1990 262 have a muffler like this as well? Much different than the ‘93 model I have.

Haven’t been playing w huskys very long but I have to say I like my 288xp
It has a modified 390 wrap on it and a Windsor 28”.

Anyone know what timing numbers a 266 likes? I was thinking the standard 100/120/80 would suffice. Maybe do some finger ports? Maybe keep the exhaust a little lower around 102?

Just finished this one off 266. BTW I build/semi restore saws. I’ve given a number of older saws a new look as well as rebuild and port them.
