Looks good. Just make sure the exhaust port roof has some ark to it. It looks a little flat in the picture.I'm new to this and basicly have a Dremel and home made attachments. It's better then expected for my own evaluation. It's a start.i have no idea what anybody else uses. I just know I cant afford it.
P.s. it's a 372XP big bore china thing. Cheap and useable. View attachment 233052
I actually didn’t time the cylinder until after I had done the machine work.
I actually didn't touch anything but took the edge off of it. And thanks. I just enlarged it a bit was all. Still learning.Looks good. Just make sure the exhaust port roof has some ark to it. It looks a little flat in the picture.
Picture is focused on the combustion chamber, so the flange area is a bit fuzzy of course and hard for my eyes to make out well.
Had to read the post twice to understand what you meant. It's a good question. I don't think the skirts are a press fit into the cases anyway so it's not like they do the exact positioning. Personally I think the bolt holes are pretty exact and line things up best. In addition I move the piston to bdc when I'm seating the head so that helps a bit to align the head. Maybe someone else can chime in here too. The skirt was nicked a bit by the bridgeport because I cut the base freehand. But even so ...I'm pretty sure there are spots of full thickness.Picture is focused on the combustion chamber, so the flange area is a bit fuzzy of course and hard for my eyes to make out well.
It may just be the chamfer/bevel on the edge.
But is the spigot/extension a bit thin in a region on exhaust side?
How much does the cylinder rely on the spigot/extension to locate it in the cases?
Very nice workNot a saw, but I figured I would post here, 86 Trx250r cylinder, 4mm stoker, stock cylinderView attachment 235756View attachment 235757View attachment 235758
Looks like some real hack work. Nice job on the save.I said WTF when I saw this intake port....View attachment 232890 I decided to fix that... well the best I could anyway.View attachment 232896View attachment 232895
Thanks David, I took a look at the piston when I got the saw and it was all scuffed up. I knew I needed to investigate further. Good thing I did! I feel good about the salvage of the cylinder and the saw runs good now. Should the owner have a problem I’ll find him a new cylinder.Looks like some real hack work. Nice job on the save.
Looks good like Canadian farm boy said give the roof of the exhaust some arch.I'm new to this and basicly have a Dremel and home made attachments. It's better then expected for my own evaluation. It's a start.i have no idea what anybody else uses. I just know I cant afford it.
