There actually not that big Tony. I only had to raise them 3 degrees after machine work. There just cut realky flat with a super tight corner.

The intake floor is raised with Devcon compound F. It would have been fine at 83 for a saw running a 28" bar but this guy is a gorilla and i wanted as much velocity to fill those transferes and fingers as i could get! The saw holds mid to low 11's with the bar burried in a small leaf peppermint stump.

I thought that too Al but, every time I've used them they seem to gain and hold better in cut RPM. They're main purpose is to get the previous charge moving towards/out the exhaust with a super high pressure burst of mixture with minimal volume.

It probably does add some additional volume to the new charge but it really about more efficent scavenging with minimal mix of the charge.

Thats my understanding of it anyway..... could be completely ass about.

Same goes for opening the exhaust side transferes first on a quad port. Seems like it would form a wall of fresh charge infront of the previous charge causing mix of the two and incomplete purging of the cylinder.........if you get it right though, you better believe it works!!!

By the way the name is Sandy Fraser, owner/operator of Savage Saws, Victoria, Australia. Been around awhile now, just don't post much due to all the negativity on the other site. This place is way different, I get it.

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your beautiful work. I'm certainly no expert, but when looking at your finger ports I was thinking they would function similar to a bridge port.
