What's the white stuff called that fills in the stress cracks on red oak like that. I've found it on red oaks reaching for the canopy in valleys. I was working some down in one spot after a wind storm and had four of them around me and within 5 ft, fortunately I made the right cut and they all came crashing down around me .
Me too, that's why I said my favorite stock plastic saw .@chipper1 Brett, my 1st new saw purchase was a 450. Not a fan.

No idea...I was going to do some cutting on that log until I saw how cracked and punky looking it was. There was some 24" and a little smaller ones I did get from the back of that pile. This is the park in the town I grew up in. Last spring they had a tree service come in and clean up all the dead and dying trees. Then a couple storms hit and they cleaned those up also. They stacked it all in this parking lot and was free for the taking! What's the white stuff called that fills in the stress cracks on red oak like that. Great they gave it away like that instead of having the tree company taking it, cheaper and it helps out the community/you .No idea...I was going to do some cutting on that log until I saw how cracked and punky looking it was.
