So. If you replace the 3/8 files with 13/64, does it work as it should on 3/8 chain?
Apparently the files are not interchangeable between Pferd sharpener models.

e.g.

I called PFerd and spoke with their chainsaw rep. Because this 2 in 1 tool is designed to file the cutter and raker at the same time he said the 3/8 model with 13/64 file is the correct model to use on a 3/8 pitch chain that calls for a 7/32 file. He said using the 7/32 model meant for a .404 chain would not file the rakers correctly on a 3/8 chain and the size difference between the 13/64 and 7/32 files is so small it won’t make a difference.

What would really be nice is if a 7/32 file would fit in the 3/8 model. I tried it and it does not fit
.

So the possible combinations are as shown on the Pferd web page,

Wow. Totally different from when I bought mine. They must have had many complaints.
The files looked like regular round files. I'm going tontry and change mine to 13/64ths and see.

FYI
Some recent googling brought me to this:
https://www.arboristsite.com/threads/2in1-sharpener-pferd-and-stihl-file-sizes.349433/

...

I don't think any of my 3/8 chains are Stihl. I have oregon, husqvarna, Carlton and a couple cheap Chinese ones for the dirty stuff. I will see what it does with the 13/64 files. Did you have to enlarge the holes to get the 7/32 in the guide?

Yep, I did. It wasn't as easy as sliding out the old and in the new. LOL One of the 7/32" files was easy. I just used the file itself to open up the holes slightly, the other I had to use a 7/32" drill bit and turn it by hand due to lack of space. Just don't jam it in too tight before getting the holes properly opened up, as you may have troubles getting it back out otherwise.
