I took 015 from the chamber on mine i believe and it's over 200lbs by a good bit

Late few I've done I only cut 010 and cut the base for 025 squish and there right at 200lb

Mine is 100 120 78 030 off the key is think.

I was thinking these numbers were a few * higher than most of the other gasket less numbers I've seen posted.

So you cut the band first, then cut the base to set squish?

Makes sense, I've been doing it the other way lol.

You swap flywheel, or just file the key that's made in?

Your plan sounds pretty good, I have to check squish see where it's at.. maybe this cylinder is a factory "oops" in our favor.

I always cut the base first, that's just the way I explained it.
Cutting the chamber first can get you in trouble

Gotcha.

Makes sense. Expecially if you forget to check intake and skirt. Things can get away in a hurry.

I hear tales that @Mastermind builds one heck of a 395, maybe he can chime in on this one? But I know Jasons' 395 hauls the mail as well, I would really like to get my hands on one someday. But they don't come on the used market here, ever.

I am no Porter but my understanding is that the 395 is one of those saws that the factory got "right" almost perfect timing numbers out of the box.

I was pretty surprised once I degreed it.

There are good stock but gain big ported
A saw porters dream

That is very encouraging.

I cut 0.050" out of the squish on the last 395 I did and it's probably 220 psi. The exhaust duration has a lot to do with cranking compression.

You like um up round 220? Think the ol man will end up running this saw a bit, don't want it too feisty for him.

Do these gasketless numbers seem a bit higher than most you have seen?

Seems every thread I got numbers from most were
104,121,77 ish without gasket.

Just curious if they changed timing on the later model jugs.

No. That seems pretty normal. I haven't seen much timing difference in OEM 395 cylinder.

Thanks for the info

Without a gasket this jug was 100,119,77

Vs the 104,121,77

Seems this saw may benifit from squaring the intake/exhaust durations. Keeping 18/19 blowdown..

Am I way off from your experience?

Guy plans on running a 3/8 36" as a big bar.
