As Jason calls em, I've been doing lots of Sally saw builds 66cc an under....

Well, gonna change that. Friend dropped this 395 off, with the $$ and orders to buy whatever needed to build. Only requirement is to outrun a clapped out 066 lol
Finally got all the parts.
So this one will be getting done before my personal saws.

A/M big bore, scorched. Getting a new oem top end along with a full rebuild/port work.

Yummy

Cleaned, split new bearings/seals.

Get the timing #'s tomorrow. Plan on trying to keep this one round 200 psi.

Building with a 3/8×28" bar in mind. Probably wear an 8 pin...

Never ran one of these bigguns before, just have to see what the jug tells me.

Clapped out?
That old 395 better pack a lunch.

:stick:

It is pretty pitiful from what I hear. Used abused an plum wore out.. still used for the occasional big stuff tho.

Don't worry, once he gets this one, he will be wanting the 066 built. His dad is a hard core stihl fan. So he won't allow a husky to be top dawg lol

I've had this saw since 2012 and have Ben inside it many times on 2 different cylinders,it's strong but can't turn as much rpm to beat these 066's,at least to a 50" 404 .
I know there's much stronger 395's but I can't make it strong enough ,even if it could turn the rpm it wouldn't live long at all.
Still my favorite husky

What ya think is holding them back? Piston weight? Transfer's tunnels??

Just curious.
