Good morning. 61f aspiring to 76.

Have a primary care followup today for blood pressure and so on. The timing works out for him to look at the almost-healed infection, so if it needs more antibiotics, I won't have to go back to urgent care. Probably won't need anything but reassurance. 🫩

Good morning all.
And the warmth continues in NW NC! Reached 64° yesterday and we saw a lot of melting. Supposed to reach 60° today.

More progress on the ole Sportsman yesterday. CV boots and hub bearings. Will try to button it up today.

We've got a 99 magnum 500, it's currently sitting in the back of the barn just about all it wanted to do was break.

Hey how was the birds. The number at my feeder is about 1/2 of what is usually here maybe less. Wondering why bird flu?
Anyone else experiencing low numbers?

My Sportsman is a 2001.

I have fixed a few things over the years but it has been a tough tough tool.

I traded some stuff for this one years ago. I had gotten away from quads recreationally but we bought this farm we live on now and I needed one. I got it looking old with sun bleached plastic and plenty of blemishes but it had under 500 hours.

This said, Polaris vehs of vintage age were crude and not particularly engineered well.

The magnetic “demand drive” can be problematic. I have to back up sometimes to get the RF wheel clutch to disengage.

I took it all apart and polished and cleaned it today so maybe it will stop that.

It is a beast in the woods and has hauled out many tons of firewood in my little trailer when it is down where no other means can reach it.

I have half, or less, of the tree birds (titmice, cardinals, huthatches, chickadees) this year than I usually do. There seems to be as many as normal, or more, of ground birds (sparrows and juncos). West Nile was determined to have killed a group of buzzards in Franklin County (one county south of me) a couple of months ago, so I don't know if it's that or avaian flu that's hitting the songbirds.

Does cold weather push them in and out of your area like it does ducks?

No, the numbers are usually pretty consistent from late fall to early spring for almost all of these species at my place. Goldfinches seem to come and go through the winter, though.

Was good we ended up with 6. I haven’t noticed a shortage of birds at my feeder. Lots of chickadees, finches and juncos.
