She wants to be a nurse like her mama.

My niece is basically being forced to go to college by her parents. She has no clue what she wants to do for a career. Can't say I agree with that.
Neither of my girls have a clue what they want to do either. And really, I don't have much of an opinion as to what they do for a career as long as whatever job they are currently in, they do to the absolute best of their ability. My oldest has straight out told her aunt to GFY when she was harassing her as to not wanting to go to college and not sure what she wanted to do for a career. FFS, she's not even 17, has had a job since 14 and is currently working 2 jobs. Leave the damn kid alone.

Yeah i can’t agree with that either. My Grandma was a nurse, my mom was a nurse practitioner, my wife is a CRNA (anesthesia nurse) , my mother-in-law is nurse, and my sister-in-law will be a nurse. So my daughter has an interest in nursing lol. My son wants to be an athletic trainer or get into sports medicine. My kids are 12 and 10 so it could all change.

My grandson "The Bubba" is currently living his best life while mooching off of me. I'm cool with that. He has no intention of moving out of my house, and helps me with anything I need help with. He's also a pleasure to be around. Why would I push him to chain himself to a job like I did at an early age? He has his diploma, and his driver's license, which is a lot more than many of his friends....

The whole idea of “everybody needs to go to college” is ridiculous…and it really only serves the purpose of making universities lots of money.

College should be a path to something, not "the something". They push this college crap on all kids that could qualify, only for most of them to take on debt, which they will be servicing a long time. I told my kids college is fine as long as you are going for two reasons, one is that it is something you want to do, and two, you can make a good living doing it. Both must be there for it to make any sense. The "college experience" is not one of the criteria.

Trades are sometimes better than college, especially for people like me, who hated school curriculums.

Good luck Ed, expectations are very high for kids these days, but a dose of reality goes a long way.

Trade school was where it was at for me. Went in to be a plumber and came out a linesman. Now i earn a 3 digit salary without all the debt. I wonder how many college graduates can say that.
Agreed.
Went in for industrial maintenance.
Somehow got stuck being a crane tech, but I didn't have to pay student loans back either.
Actually paid my own way, except for the first quarter. Dad gave me that for incentive.

Ladies and Dall-mations, this is a pork T bone steak.
I know, its a center cut chop, but dang it looks nice!
Bosslady found 2 of the 2 packs of these at a local grocer in the reduced section. Less than 10 bucks for 4 of these monsters.
Gonna be a fat kid fo sho here shortly.:hambre:
She also made me some of her pasta salad to go with it before she left.
That stuff is AMAZING.

I'm not quite willing to go this far. I saw a wagyu ribeye in the grocery cooler tonight that had me drooling. I have a lot of time at the cabin slated for September, so one of those may see the camp grill over hickory once the fall 'shrooms are firing on all cylinders. I'm totally worth it.
