Just out of high school I had a Chevy Berreta.
2.8v6, 5 speed. Over 300k on it. No air filter because the dryer vent cold air kit didnt need one. I added oil once in a while. Didnt change it.
That car got thrashed. 5 or so clutches, a few transmissions and a van load of cv shafts.
Ever see the mighty 302 split in half, nothing but intake and oil pan holding it together? I've seen it.
They all break eventually.[/QU
Yes they do all brake eventually but you must have had the best 2.8 on earth with mine being second in my 1985 s-10. Beat on for 280,000 miles then I rolled it dumbest oil change ever had to go through the drivers side fender flap to get filter. Yours was good mine was good but everyone else I knew that had one couldn’t go 500miles without working on it. 2.8,3.1 and the 3.4 are all garbage overall and the 3,6
Isn’t much better. The old motors with big timing chains and no vvt seem to just not have all the little things go wrong. But what you spend on parts you save on gas I’ve never had a 302,305 or anything else in an older 4x4 that will get 20-22 highway like my 3.5 ecoboost that will need timing chains soon.
