We used to see that from time to time in 2001, 2002ish. And that was a gasket issue.
Anything 2007 and newer, I have not once had an intake itself cause an issue. And we run a *f-wordton of trucks through this shop.
Possible regional thing. Sometimes talking to guys at the training centers guys in certain areas see different problems for whatever reason.
You want to talk broken exhaust manifold bolts though...Ferd and Dudge have that issue too however.
Most of these are 2010-2012 trucks. Just a gasket issue mostly. Might be a different assembly plant than where you are. Actually considering buying a 3500 4 x 4 four door to haul my loader around. Has been a pretty good truck.
It got Back to Florida before I could catch it, but I'm willing to pick up if the moneys right.

Had a 2014 Ram(Fiat whatever) 4500 before this 5500 Silverado. It broke a couple exhaust manifold bolts. Whoever tried to drill them out screwed up, so they put a head on it. Glad it was still under warranty.

Guy I work wif put a 440 wif a big arse nasty cam an a high rise wif a big arse double pumper in a 73 Duster. 727 behind it and the original 6 cylinder rear end.
That was a FREAKIN BLAST!
It didnt really GO ANYWHERE, but it was a blast blowin the tires off that granny-mobile. Too scary to really drive on the road. Made more for 1/8-1/4 mile... If you got it to hook.

Dime store motors.
Gimme a 300 I6 and whatever abuse you wanna throw at it.
Take your 290 I6 and do the same. Let's see who lives longer.
Or a 302 and a 305.
Dont change the oil.
Or the air filter. Actually, just leave the air filter off. You dont need those...
Crank it up and hold it to the floor to warm it up.
Let's see which one gives up first.
Theres a reason Chebbys are easier to work on...

Just out of high school I had a Chevy Berreta.
2.8v6, 5 speed. Over 300k on it. No air filter because the dryer vent cold air kit didnt need one. I added oil once in a while. Didnt change it.
That car got thrashed. 5 or so clutches, a few transmissions and a van load of cv shafts.

Ever see the mighty 302 split in half, nothing but intake and oil pan holding it together? I've seen it.

They all break eventually.

Yesterday I was nothing but a slacker and did absolutely nothing. I hung out at a buddy's car lot most of the day and he's got one of them Buick regal turbo v6 cars in his collection. We ran into town in that thing to pickup parts. Its stock and its one impressive car

Agreed.
GS Stage 1s are cool rides. You gots a sedan wif a solid V6 motor, and then you put a hair dryer down the intake and a Hoover on the exhaust. More GOODER. Respect those. The Ferd Thunderbird STC was a decent try, but fell short. They should have used the 2.9 V6 for that instead of the stupid Pinto 2.3 liter...

The Chevy 2.8, Ford 2.8/2.9 V6s were ALL solid motors.
Berettas and Cavaliers were good, as long as you could keep the plastic crap together on them.
And no, ive never seen anyone put enough fuel to a 302 to split the block. I guess it could be done, but a proportionate amount would probably do the same to a 305/307.
They are very similar in construction if you take away the loyalties.
