Much like "smart" phones are making people dumber....
Exactly like that.

I certainly appreciate having the power at my fingertips to get answers to whatever questions I may have, right now, but without discretion it’s easy to get false information.

The only single axle plow trucks here are used on the smaller, narrower gravel township roads. All state and county are tandems.

Don't help when it is ice on the road. Didn't make the woman driving it happy when I took the picture or when I showed it to her a couple years ago to remind her of it.
My township decided last year that they will not send out the plows unless there's a minimum of 4" of snow.
Which means that the school busses and my daughter in her pos Chevy Cruze can hog through snow better than 90% of people south of Wisconsin.
I drove my 03 VW Jetta manual transmission through the snow on Thursday and Friday. More worried about the idiots I was meeting than getting around.

Ice is what tire chains are for. I’ve had to chain up on the side of the road in freezing rain. It sucks, but saved me. Most of the time, we knew and had the opportunity to chain up in the garage before heading out on our routes.

Actually I don't even shoot much anymore at all but i like running my friends range whenever the kids or anyone in the family or friends want to shoot.
I was surprised at how fast and accurate even first time shooters are with the dots.
It takes much of the guesswork out of it
I prefer iron sights on pistols but as my eyes get worse with age i like them more.
And can hit easier at distance if i still hunted i wouldn't hesitate to use a dot.

Year's ago I bought a couple of sig Romeo 5s for my ARs and pretty much quit using scopes
I couldn't tell you any difference from the budget under 100.00 dots to the premium one's they all look about the same to me
Just some are shake awake other's you hit a button some have a battery tray from the side some are underneath and you take the dot off.
I have budget sig,CT,cylee, primary arms, bushnell
And have shot holosun,trijicon,aimpoint
I'm sure they're better but i can't see paying double or triple for them.
I have an Eotech on my main SHTF BCM mid length carbine

When I built a pair of 16" pencil barrel super light Aero Precision ARs a few years back I put on irons and just shoved them to the back of the dent puller containment unit for "just in case"

The rest of the ARs just run irons as well

A couple of years ago I decided to put some kind of optic on the pair of light rifles and the market now is crazy with sights, as you well know

I wasn't ready to spend $1,300 on a pair of Eotechs so I did a deep dive and I finally whittled it down to a pair of Primary Arms SLX Microprisms with the green ACSS reticle

I put them on the optional high mount and I am very pleased with them

Batteries last forever with the "shake awake" system and I love the fact that you still have the etched reticle if it all goes south and batteries are no longer available
