I got on FakeBook a few years ago to keep up with pictures of the grandkids. Had to unfollow about everybody for political crap and such.
My last post was a few years ago and that was "i retired". Most folks i know assume i read everthing they do on FB. Sorry but i don't look at at it unless my son texts and say they put up pictures. I really don't care what you had to eat or your political view or how many animals need rescued.
The internet was the best and the worst thing ever invented.

I'm in a few Facebook groups. No....nothing about chainsaws. I joined the groups to learn about LS swaps, and modern automatic transmissions. Sadly, forums are dying out, and these groups are about all we have left.

On FB you just have to be selective where you go .As far as chainsaws there are many many sub forums contained there in .One even by a person I will never visit his actual forum again in my life time but I won't venture near the FB one either .--and that's the name of that tune in one note .

So...forums. Before fb I was on tons. From tractors to pews to trucks to rock crawling to military vehicles...whatever guy stuff I was into or needed info for. Got to using fb more cuz faster and easier to share pics etc. As some have said it’s a mess sometimes. Now I forum here mainly. Still use fb to keep in touch, share, find deals, and when I have a question, get a bunch of answers fast even if half are hooey and idiocy. Here I often get no answers or slowly. I like this forum and yous guys a lot, but I think a lot of guys are over the saw thing, been there done that, and just here to hang out with friends which is fine, happens on most forums, but I’m still newish and having fun learning, always looking for more. Also I think this forum is kinda small so not a lot of exposure. Been digging thru old threads lately, maybe I will start popping them up. @Mastermind for FB you just gotta control and unfollow what and who you don’t like etc. AS, I haven’t been able to find interesting stuff much yet. When I look at “new posts” it’s usually noob stuff. Forestry forum seems awful quiet. Might try the climbing forum. Any other recommendations?

Once any forum becomes a "cliche " it usually doesn't last long from my experience .It seems to me , a rank amateur these so called Stihl "gold level " techs seem to like to take the lime light and from my perspective they aren't that damned brilliant .I just ignore them .:)

I don't consider FB a forum. I joined with a fake name and blank profile to access something I can't remember. Marketplace is kicking CL's butt for amount of stuff for sale. Scammers sure, but lots more chainsaws for example.
I traded my TV for scuba gear years ago now and only use internet to amuse myself.
Alot of Youtube.
I spent too much time on motorcycle forums. Talk about a bunch of arm chair warriors. Worried about what kind of "tank purse" or wind visor of the week they could bolt on their machines.
I'm more of a tractor equipment person so Allis Chalmers, Red Power, ACMOC, yesterdays tractors etc. Some others I've visited but didn't care for. The general tractor forums get to broad and nobody knows anything about particular models. Or they are taken over by the N series Ford fans or by the noobie who literally doesn't have a clue.
The tractor industry went through a phase of buyouts kinda like the chainsaw industry.
For example, I'm not really an International tractor fan, they made alot of good and great stuff, but hanging on Red Power for a few years has taught me alot about the different models and what they were, how they evolved over time, and to identify with what problems and success they had.
I've always liked chainsaws. Weedeaters, blowers, etc. not so much.
I've joined here as opposed to other chainsaw boards to do the same as I did with Red Power. Give me 2-3 years to read up and follow along and I'll know alot more about models of saws, where they came from, how they got to be what they are.
My general method is to open a thread on a saw, then google it's specs, then search Utube, then search any and all chainsaw type forums and read up.
It's what you make of it.
