I used to shoot a .300 Weatherby. It was ridiculous, and price/availability of the rounds was fun too.

At a range one day and with the muzzle brake on, I sighted it in. After squeezing off the first round, the entire range went silent and when I turned around, the range officer and all others were behind me asking me wtf I was shooting.

I now shoot a .270 Win. Ruins a lot less meat on the animal and my shoulder.

Lol! I too had similar results at the range after installing a vais brake on my 300. I no longer own the rifle. My go to now is .338 Remington ultramag. Makes the 300 weatherby look tame. Speaking of recoil....I put together an ultralight rifle last year. A howa 1500 SS, 375 Ruger, Mark bansner stock, barrel cut and crowned at 22 1/2", reminton 700 open sights. Did all the work myself. Stock came as an uninletted blankIMG_20190602_120811.jpg IMG_20190602_120837.jpg , no paint, no buttpad. I have still yet to work up loads. It weighs just under 7 -1/2#...scoped! Ive run several 270 grain Barnes tsx handloads through it.....when you pull the trigger you certainly know it. Lol I'm not particularly sensitive to recoil but this rifle approaches my limit.

Obviously both great optics....I prefer the skmr3 reticle in the kahles

I’ve never got to look through that reticle. It’s the one I would be picking out of them at the moment. Might force has released some nice reticle the last couple years themselves.

Man I totally forgot about yellow bullet, I wonder if my log in still works. There were some fun threads there...

Depends on when you logged in last.
Monty sold the website and after that there was a big ordeal and everyone had to change passwords.
Well, so many had forgotten them that the company that purchased it was flooded with password verifications they seemed to just give up.
I was able to retain my log in, but have since forgotten it.

Right on JJ. Treehouse is not a saw forum. Real arborists hang there. It's a great place to learn about gear, climbing, and other aspects of the business.

Butch is seeing the traffic on the site fall way off.......I've assured him it's not just his site. Unmoderated free for alls like Facebook are pulling many folks away from real forums.

You are right about FB taking forum traffic and sad to see. OTOH, Butch's forum, which I had never seen until you just posted the link, does not have eye appeal. I found it visually hard on the eyes. This can be easily fixed by someone who can tweak their forum style settings. Colors, fonts, spacing, too much of this, not enough of that, etc.

Best of luck to him in these days of the evil FB.

Very nice! I bet some 250 grain lead slugs at .375 WCF power level would be a ton of fun.

As a guest it looks much different than when you are a member. As a member you can change setting to make it easier on your eyes.

OPE is my main forum of entertainment. I still visit AS but dont get engaged with much, it's more like chainsaw craigslist for me.

I visit hearth.com when it gets colder and brag about my Froling boiler ect... I pick on the Blaze King snobs also.

I use to visit 67-72chevytrucks.com but once I put my motor together and in my truck I haven't been back much.

Recently I joined the Husqvarna facebook group but it's not like a good chainsaw forum. Actually is quite useless compared to a forum. I guess if you didnt know how good OPE really was you might think the facebook page was useful lol.

It's none of my business what anybody visits or has pictures of .However things like posting pictures of firearms doesn't seem like a smart thing to do .My reasoning behind that is the internet has a million eyes .You don't tip your hand in a poker game ,loose lips sink ships and a thousand other old adages might apply .Being an old submarine sailor I'll just say there's a reason it's called the silent service and I still operate that way . .Just an opinion no more no less .

The amount of terrible advise on facebook is overwhelming. I try to give solid advise occasionally but then find myself having to defend it to people who have no experience. Last month I finally had to tell someone, "If you have no welding experience, stop giving welding advice" after he tried to say that a form of tig welding was bonding with epoxy.

And somehow everything becomes an oil discussion in 10 or less comments, much faster than here.
