What’s up peeps!?!?!? My first post in a while….life has had me against the ropes a bit, but I’m still winning. lol. We’ve hopefully moved into our forever home and it was a monumental push to get it completed before winter. We should have electricity and internet in a week. We’ve been off grid for quite a bit. Alright, enough of the small….let’s get down to business.

The 564XP….the most hype I’ve heard about a saw since the 500i released. I’ve unboxed it and here’s the pics.

What’s new and what’s old? At a glance, it looks like everything is new….a completely new saw. What’s old? Maybe nothing…it may share minor things with previous 5th gen Husqy saws, but they do appear to be very few.

Anway, this saw will be up and running next week in my tree service so I’ll put it through the paces and see what I think.

I may put it on the scale at the office tomorrow and see how it compares with a 550 Mark II. I’ve heard claims that it has the power of a 70cc saw and the weight of a 50cc saw. As far as the power goes, we shall see. The weight judging by feel alone seems like it’s more comparable to the 562XP Mark II.

I’ve noticed over the years that I have a tendency to use saws based on the way they feel versus weight. I kind of used to lean towards running saws with the best power to weight. For example, if I’m felling trees, I’ll grab a 572 over the 500i. If I’m knocking down big rounds on a spar, I’ll take the 500i. For mid-sized saws, I tend to choose the 550 MarkII or the 562 Mark II when climbing, limbing, and felling smaller trees.

Looks like Husqy has upped their boxing game. They’ve added some organization for the chain and tools, plus reinforcements for the top and bottom. Not a big deal, but for the shippers out there, the previous boxes were underwhelming to say the least.

Some other nonsense that came in the box.

Supplied bar and chain….yawn! I’ll probably run this saw with an adapter and a Stihl ES
Light bar with RS chain.

For the weight and measurements types out there…

Husqy’s claims that it is light as a 50cc saw are pretty accurate. The 550XP Mark II is just under a pound lighter.

Weights are without fuel and bar oil. Powerhead only.

Y’all have to think in commie metric cause I don’t have another scale.

I've heard that c85 is good chain. Let us know how it cuts.

Dan nothing wrong with off the grid living.
May be hard to run a business ... but ...
Hi Mike! We had issues to solve with our land having forest on it. Basically it blocked us from finalizing the last bit of paperwork. Instead of just handling the issue, the forest service sort of held us in limbo until they completed a rezoning of the area. Long story short, we weren’t able to apply for electricity to be hooked up until all the paperwork was completed.

c85 is great chain. I’m not a big fan of the Xforce bars.

It's a very good chain, I left the xForce bar in the store and brought a couple of extra chains with me instead, I had a 20" Tsumura Premium lying around for it.

It is probably closer to the weight of a 560mk2 than it is to a 550mk2, but with a long bar mount.

Dan, glad all was sorted out. Each jurisdiction and country have their regulations.
Nothing like being in the "modern" age.

In my application and in my hardwoods here, I was not a big fan of the C85 out of the box.
With too many good reviews, I too thought that it would do well.
I tried to run it with the 372OE monster build by our friend @Stump Shot Steve and the chain was sub-performing.
Once the chain was correctly re-adjusted to my application (fiber and operator skill) all was good.

I got a chance to put the saw in some wood today. I ran same bar/chain on the 564 and 562 mk2.

I didn’t have any decent wood to test the saw on so I went out and toppled over a small dead standing fir and loaded it up.

The inspectors were out in full force today and were slowing my progress. Lol. I had a bag of chicken feed in the truck and they were hell bent on having it.
