I love the look of a Sugi and have quite a few now. I help with a firewood ministry and the first time I helped buck some, I pulled the bar cover off to hear a older gentleman say “that boy has a chrome bar on his saw”. Next thing I know a group of older, overall wearing gentlemen were fondling my saws in the truck. That’s back when I was a borderline PSP and kept them pretty clean for a saw. I laugh every time I pull the cover off a saw with a Sugi on it now, lol.

That's basically how it went with my Tsumura bar 4 years ago.

Dude. If you put a bark box on a 462 absolutely nothing compares. Everyone knows that. Get it right.
Hmmm I have an opinion on the bark box and I think so do you any clown that puts one on a 462 needs a head readjustment.
Now one day I was in a position to put 7 tanks through a 462 with a 20 inch Stihl lightweight bar .
I just weighed my 261 with tsumrua light bar 18 inch came out at 15.55# and that saw was ported by Randy and l still call that saw a little animal .
But I will say this I would rather have put 7 through that 462 it just for some silly reason felt lighter more Nimble and a *s-wordload quicker hard to explain unless you compare the two

I know the 261 is a light saw, pretty cool that the 462 is about 1.5 pounds heavier with the increase in cc’s. The 261 will probably be my next one if (When haha) I get another.

I am going to drop a quote from myself below that I posted in the 036/044 hybrid thread. It seems fitting here and I have never heard or read anyone say what I posted earlier and now I have seen it twice here ^.

To me the 462 doesnt seem that much heavier or harder to handle than a 261 but has WAY more woopow. I end up reaching for my 462 more than any other saw it seems but I have no 60cc saws.

I honestly don't remember there being this much purse swinging on ope. Thought that was reserved for the other site.
Power to weight to dollar trigger talk crosses all boundaries. Just better hope the heavies don't show up.
So because the other brand loyalists started swinging their purses, My post would be locked... Makes sense.
You should start a Husky/Chevy thread. Those guys don't get pissy.

I've only been a member here since 2018 - I've been on AS about the same time. I still frequent both sites regularly, but prefer the banter and environment of OPE as it is much more aligned to my personality.

I don't think anything has changed in the short time I've been here regarding inclusiveness. I appreciate the "no BS" attitude taken toward sellers and porters of questionable character. I like how we come together when rough times appear on the horizon for other members. I like how guys can be ready to fight about their chosen saw brand, but when something goes wrong, we will raffle, send parts free, pool resources together to make something wrong right for someone we were just arguing with about something that isn't even important in the grand scheme of things.

No, OPE hasn't changed. If anything, I think it has gotten better.

If anyone feels that their saw choices or recommendations are not taken or ignored, I would think it would have more to do with the delivery style of the information and not the content. @ElevatorGuy sought out opinions on saws and settled on the 462. He spent his own hard earned money for the saw and spent another $100+ for a Sugi and some chains.

And then gets told he should have bought another saw brand and had it ported, as he would have saved some money. No man likes hearing he should have done this or should have done that - it goes against our very nature to be told that by another. Had he bought some piece of crap and it failed on him, sure, a little light ribbing to get him back on track would have been warranted.

It's not the content, but rather the context and delivery.

Just my two cents...

Your 462 is an awesome saw, period. You should be proud to own such a fine piece of equipment.

Comments can be deceiving. Just because someone looks at something from a different perspective doesn't necessarily mean they are swinging their purse at you. And it doesn't necessarily mean they are "brand loyalists". It just means there are always different options to fit a person's needs and budget.

We are really lucky to have the selection of saws we have right now from Stihl, Husky, and Echo. There's turds and quality saws in all their lineups. You bought the cream of the crop.

You need to go back and re-read this thread. Nobody said that.

And I respect your opinion but my opinion is things have changed ALOT here in the last few years. Still alot of good hearted, helpful guys though, don't get me wrong. There's just less tolerance for differing views. Alot like AS.
