I got a few loops from Randy IIRC of 28" x .050 x 3/8" works well with my 372 and 9010 when I'm cutting Locust, Red Oak and Hedge, not that full comp doesn't work well too... I actually like it a lot more when cutting Silver Maple, Piss Elm, Cotton Wood and Sweet Gum.

I always told myself if I ever had a reason to run a 50" or 60" bar in the woods I won't run full skip. And if the saw doesn't have the power to pull semi than I'll quit building my own saws lol.

I actually think the 661 has a worse filter setup than a 660,wish they would have used the 441 setup.
Stihl mounted the filters in a bad location. One thing I prefer husky 's Stihl design. I can run my Huskys along time without cleaning, even older non air injection. Top mounted filters My opinion, better location. All stihls I've owned or run, I'm cleaning air filter daily.

I like a 395 and ran the last few years I logged but the 661 wasn't out then or I would have been running it.

A 395 might be a little bit stronger stock for stock but ported it's a wash and the 661 is a corvette to handle compared to the double decker bus 395.

395 will oil better and has a much better airfilter setup but that's the only advantages I see.

Hi,

if both saw are ported - the 661 still have more power

The 395 is the best saw you'll get for cutting up in the landing.

Not really.
I've always had a 394/5 and probably have upwards of 10 in the shop right now.

A 394 is one of my favorite saws to port and run and my pick over a 95 any day.

I would run the 661 because it's lighter and handles better and cuts just as good.

I port 90+cc saws for a living and like all of them.

I've probably cut more timber with a 395 than any other saw and the weight never bothered me,the power head is to big and the front chain adjuster that falls out constantly and the outboard clutch are a nightmare, even a hardcore husky guy can't like it.
There good and bad in all of the,it's just what you get use to.

I always liked porting a 650.
Run with or ahead of a 660

Still not a short case 064 though lol.

Just better timing on those 85cc cylinders right.

Even with that bigger crankcase they still can run better than a 660?

Interesting...

Sent from my non internal combustion device.
