I've got a homemade plug that I use, to line up in the mill i screw my plug in the cylinder. I then indicate two sides up and down. It's about 4" long once screwed into the cylinder. It will get you dead nuts close.

Fixing to threadsert a 660 cylinder.
Well you have more room than I do .

Either way really. Shouldn't be a hard job to knock out. Any of the other guys that commented sound like they could getter done too. Can you post a picture of the cylinder to see how buggered up it is?

It was a minor amount of dremel to get the roof out of the way. ...probably would have been ok even without doing that. But then again...my threads weren't buggard at all. So it kept it perfectly straight

looks like you already have a kit and a plan, but just for future reference for anyone reading this...ive made my own sleeves before... solid aluminum threaded for NPT then drill/tap head for same size NPT, then mill flush, then drill/tap for spark plug (this can be done before installing the sleeve if theres clearance issues like the op's...
heres some pics of one I did for 18mm plug holes, I believe I used 3/4" NPT for insert size...

BTW those had a healthy amount of Loctite 272 on the pipe thread portion of the insert
