I’m glad you had better luck than some with the recent storms. If you’re a stihl guy sounds like you could benefit from selling your 2 and getting a ported 462 for a nice power to weight ratio :pesas:

You're right, but I hate trying to sell stuff, and I've gotten attached to these two. I picked up a cute little Echo 310 for limbing, but I think I'm done with new saws and homeowner saws. I'm watching for a deal in an 026 or similar 50cc pro saw.

I can keep a lookout for you as well. Those can mod out nicely too

I bought an MS290 around 2000 or 2001, they were so new I remember the salesman kept referring to at as an 029. I didn't know what I was buying, I just needed a saw for a job. I grew up building houses and spent some time in Oregon in '96 working on a ranch clearing land. At the time I was buying the saw, I had been laid off for the second time from a failed tech dot com within the last 12 months and needed some cash. I had a builder friend that needed some building lots cleared and offered me money to do it. I think I had a budget of ~$300 for the saw, etc. When I walked into the store, I was thinking back to that 066 I had ran in Oregon, thinking I would buy something similar - I was wrong. I just remember feeling foolish that I had learned to use and maintain a tool while I was in Oregon, but never bothered to ask what it cost.
I still have that little 290, while it's pretty heavy for what it is, it's been a good little saw.

I bought a used Stihl 046 quite a few years ago. I still have it, quite a few parts have been replaced, but the soul of the saw is still there. Still a good runner, and I’d still take it out to do any job anywhere. That saw and I have done things we probably shouldn’t have and been in places we really didn’t need to be border to border where stuff was burning from Montana to the Pacific ocean (mostly wet side Cascades) and then all throughout Appalachia.

When I bought the saw I had been running an 038 Mag, 044s and the first few years of the MS 440. I thought I wanted something in that size, and in hindsight a 44 would have been better seeing as it feels way smaller and faster to flick around, but I was running 372s not long after I bought this saw anyway.

My first was a Stihl ms 260 purchased in 2001 I believe. Always ran great and still does. It never got any real hard use but has never given me problems either.
I just recently caught the CAD and now find myself with 6 and more on the way. I just can't pass on a good deal...and there gave been lots lately. Haha

Husky 365. Dad picked it up at a flea market on the cheap. Not running. Gave it to me to tinker with not thinking I would do anything with it. 5 years later.. I've run out of room in the garage and started bringing saws in the house

First hand-me-down was a pm 700 around 10 years ago in high school. Probably will last until my children's children. My father had bought it in the 1970s when he was in high school after my uncle/his brother straight gassed my father's 10-10.

It's pretty rough paint gone and chain brake broken. But it still runs like a house of fire and still one of my favorites.

The first time I got out of the Marines I bought a chinese 070 for a mill then got a chinese 660.

Then my first oem saw I bought was just recently a ms500i.

My dad gave me a used Husqvarna 136 in 2001. I abused the poor thing but it survived my antics until loaned out to my father in law.

I got back into saws a couple years ago and recently got my pair of orange saws. 5F4279E2-DDD5-400A-AB35-6AF40F71FA0A.jpeg2C0893AB-4940-4544-9428-D04F8F17C970.jpeg

I do want to get my dads Husqvarna 65 running again sometime, he’s gone now so it would be especially cool to get his saw going agian.

Put a 20" blade on an MS-250 and you're a real stud.:coleman:
My BIL has an MS-250. He thought it was the biggest baddest saw made, until I let him cut a bit with my 562xp. After that, his MS-250 became the best saw for the money..............He's still wrong.
