My first saw. A poulan wild thing. I stole some random parts off of it. It actually still ran Needed fuel lines. Then I started stealing parts. I wasn’t gonna use it anymore.
Got it! Thanks! The pic was a little more than I could sort out without some help.

Promac 650. With a 28” bar. I was around 13, my parents paid for half of it as a loan which I repaid by cutting and selling firewood out of a big deck of beetle kill Ponderosa pine a neighbor had. He and I made a deal, half for him half for me and I cut it all.

My first experience was with an 029. Ran that for a long, long time before it was replaced with a 261c. I can still remember the sense of astonishment I had with the first cut of that 261.

Bought a new 346xp in 2012 when I started burning wood. It's now extra angry after a trip to Cottle Lane.
I also have Grandpa's Poulan S-25 CVA that still makes a few appearances in his woods each season.
I’ve had dozens of every brand saw and modified most of them. Porting and carb mods/machining and such. It wasn’t until I got my hands on a 346xp ported by Kevin Lavanway That I felt that was the first saw I was satisfied with and it just blew me away!

It's ok, we where all there at some point. Most moved on. Unfortunately some never do...:eaea:

I went straight from homeowner grade to pro-line. Never saw the point in paying almost a pro saw price for something that was just a larger version of my $130.00 Poulan with different name and colors.

Thanks buddy, lol. Your right, my next saw was a ms361! Man that was a long time ago. Bought it from a friend of mine. He tried explaining the whole "pro saw" thing to me. Figured he was just trying to get more money out of me lol. At that point to me a stihl was a stihl. My ms390 had a bigger model number and slightly more cc's, and was heavier...surely it must be better? Boy was I wrong! :risas3:

Homelite Timberman 45. Served me well for a couple years, then I smoked it doing hurricane cleanup after Katrina. Probably operator error, or just too small a saw for the job.

Which is basically operator error.

Zeta cleanup went a little better with an MS660 and a 290. And slightly more skilled operator.

I got my 372xp for Rita clean up. I’m in southwest LA, sounds like you go through the same thing we do.

I'm in Hancock County, MS. We've got trees down all around the property, including and amazing four-tree rootball. Amazingly, the house, chicken coops and sheds had only trivial damage. But I'll definitely get some practice dealing with windfalls and leaners!

I must report, though, that both my Stihls seem to have gained weight in the last few years.

I’m still cleaning up my property from Laura and delta. I’m using my 346xp top end on a (red 2147), 357xp I now also use a 272xp for the most part. Also have a 2186 jred. They are getting serious abuse right now lol

I’m glad you had better luck than some with the recent storms. If you’re a stihl guy sounds like you could benefit from selling your 2 and getting a ported 462 for a nice power to weight ratio :pesas:
