Awesome stuff Al!!!
I love to see comparisons like this.
This Meteor doesn't look like it stands up to thier general reputation for standout aftermarket cylinders.
The 026 is really well regarded.

For general firewood guy cylinder replacement the hustle/farmertec 44.7 is pretty decent, obviously a ported kick-ass gtg play-saw is a different story entirely :)
The intake port shape on that meteor is just ..........ugly. if I was air or fuel I would refuse to go through there based on principle alone.

That meteor looks like it was made in a mud hut, in the dark.
exactly and they tied one of the poor kids arms behind his back, fed him gruel once a week and gave him no idea ahead of time what it was that he was supposed to make

Pics of the girl in a mud hut with one arm tied behind her back?

The more I see of the AM cylinders, the more confused I get. So, my question to D Dave (or anyone else with the knowledge): Is quality control just lacking in the AM cylinders, or do some companies have some saws down fine, but not others???

I know this doesn't help but... I bought a am ms361 China kit for 20 bucks when hlsupply had there sale. It actually looks really nice and the port timing on it is identical to oem with the squish at .018 without gasket. Was very surprised by it. I guess it would matter what batch they are running and quality control.

Weird ,here is an ms460 meteor ,ports look nice ,transfer was kind of sloped though ,maybe depending where you get them depends on quality ,got this one from weedeaterman.com ,some of the ebay ones may be seconds or blem's ,so be cautious who you buy from there .460 meteor jug 006.JPG 460 meteor jug 009.JPG 460 meteor jug 012.JPG 460 meteor jug 001.JPG

The range of quality is amazing. Even in the stuff that looks like it came out of the same factory. Maybe they sell seconds, that are lower quality. :nusenuse:
