I'm building an MS260 for my buddy Dave. I had the choice of 3 different jugs to use, but obviously I chose the OEM. The difference were interesting. These are all 44.7 jugs. I had an OEM Mahle, a Meteor and a Huztl. I timed the Mahle and Meteor only. The Huztl has not been timed yet.

I'll do my best to keep the pics straight. I'll post the differences and then Daves final jug before saw assembly. Daves saw will wear an OEM 044 boot and carb.

Wow Al, that Meteor cylinder looks lousy. Strange, I put a Meteor top end on a friends MS260 a couple of years ago and it was beautiful. Fit and finish was as good if not better than OEM. Saw runs like a scalded dog too, beat my all OEM metal tag 026 by a couple of seconds in a 16" log.

Boy these things sure are hit and miss. The 272xp huztl jug I put on my 630 looks as good as any oem jug I've seen. #'s weren't as good, but finish was perfect in and out. Both of those, as well as the casting flash in the mahle to a lesser extent, look like shat

This is a 44.7 and apparently a new offering from meteor. The 44mm may be much better.

Looking at the photo of the Hutzel peering into the cylinder towards the plug and decomp....Is that just bad casting or lack of machining? It looks crooked.
The AM's generally plate the chamber and the bore, the OEM the bore only. The Huztle has only a partially plated bore, and the plating on it is assymetric. The chamber is indeed centered Pat, but the casting marks are atrocious.

The meteor chamber looks really great in person. I just wish they raised it more.
