Not as deep would work good. Be easier to make some of them fit. I have reshaped a few shorter that way. I liked the thicker ones myself since I weld 90% of them on.

Does the width/ height seem to be bout right?

Yes. It works pretty good for most. I cut the stock deflector off the 372 and 390 mufflers and those cover them pretty good. As a second hole the deeper one is hard to fit sometimes.
