i ll talk with my boss maybe i can get our used MS 462.
It is nearly broken in with 50 hours running time and a bit dirt.
And sending it in 2 boxes should solve the problem.
first i have to get the saw, after this we speak about shipping.

/edit: i did some research 76 Euro shipping to the US in 2 boxes or 55 Euro in 1 box.
Google says:
1076 Euro =
1 255,77 USD

MSRP in Germany 1667,75 USD with 16 inch bar/chain. 1730 USD with 20 inch Rollomatic ES Light bar.
Holy crap:eek:

This thread is awesome.

Especially part about people liking to be pissed on.

But at the same time it pissed me off - no pun intended. Why the hell is stihl sitting on this saw in other markets and not offering it on the US? They already have the sunk cost for designing and developing it. Why are they selling it in other countries while keeping the US on yesterday's technology and trying to unload their 441 and 461 inventory?
Stihl US must have way over ordered on the 441 and 461 not knowing of a early Euro release date ,just my 2 cents worth :D

My local dealer got in 462's (carb version) on Thursday. Curiosity drove me to go and check them out. First impressions of the saw are pretty good, IMO. I mean, I didn't run one, so just from handling the saw and checking out the features, they are very nice and lightweight. Very streamlined and Stihl has taken a lot of care to tidy up unnecessary space around the saw to make them lighter weight. The ergonomics feel right. Distance to the brake flag, handle angle and throttle/operator presence all feel natural in the hand.

Something I noticed when I was looking at all the Stihl saws, was the variation in accessing the air filters. The 462 is flat screwdriver bolts, whereas other models are T27 and some tool-less.

I am accepting donations of 'said' "yesterday's technology" 441 and 461's. At no additional charge to the current owners....I'm paying shipping! :D

Send all the 462s to me then. I'll show'em some love.
Specially the MMWS 462cm.

That's what I'm sayin'....just gotta figure out how to budget it. Too many expenditures at the moment. What I need to do is get my dealer to comp me one and then I'll be set.

I'd be cutting trees all over "God's green Earth". :ARMS1:

Torque is there, power is there, revs are there.
Operating from someone who doesn’t like the brand at all is there also.
This saw is a philosophy change. Awesome.
He certainly didn't hold back on his likes and dislikes. I also agree with the other gents, for working a 70ish cc saw a 7 pin is a must. Only time will tell, and what the other porters experience and can get out of them.
