I really like the fresh ties, the railroad leaves in stacks by road crossings, instead of the old worn out ties that they remove from under the tracks.

Fresh ties burn so much better, really take the chill out of the house on a cold winters morning....I can get my wood stove glowing nice cherry red....in no time.

That's the tip of the day right their. And I live right by the rail yard here in town.

Well, after a little bit of a fight, and a long drive....I talked these three sexy ladies into coming home with me....

Yep that's daddy's brand new 461 being flanked by two 462C's. The new owners know who they are, and I'l be getting them shipped in the AM Thursday. IMG_20180711_215804.jpg

So , does this mean that Stihl caught up with the competition . . . , or are they sti(h)ll playing catch up? o_O

I'll just leave this here, mild muffler mod with single outlet but otherwise stock and terribly abused by the previous owner (needs new clutch weights, has new drum).

BTW, 20ish year old technology/design, 73cc, 36" B&C setup, oak.

No, I'm not a hater and I generally have nothing against Stihl. ;)

Gotta say, these open debates on chain/bar length really are interesting. Just to stoke the fire, I run 7 pin with a 36" bar on my 980 Olympyk. It has been ported by Randy and has a great oiler. I do run full skip, if I let it eat then she cuts great and stays in a good rpm range. All that in oak. I'll try to find my pics.

Mr Awesome

PS---Anyone know who can make an air filter adapter/v stack for the Olympyk....she needs better air filtration.

I may have to try that ,How have you been Mike ? Got the cabin done ?

Doing OK Brian, and you???

We worked (5 of us) like Dogs this past WE and put a concrete floor in the cabin. Next time up I gotta put the door back on, and run some drainage pipes in the trench we cut. Were going to flush the outhouse with the gutter drain pipes, and may also store some water for showers in the summer time.

Was a logistical nightmare getting all the supplies … 8 tons of 1/2" gravel, 250 - 80lb bags of Concrete, and 300 gal of water up the Mountain. I'm 2 mi in on a twisty, at times steep, 4 WD road. But we got it done!

I'm not in the picture, I took the picture!

My brother had serious intestinal surgery years ago. He will never be 100%. They wanted to put him on disability. He told them where they could shove that idea.

My brother was the captain of his wrestling team in HS, and had an undefeated season. Even with his condition, he is still deceptively strong.

When he was 145 lbs, he could press a 110 lb dumbbell 12 times with his left hand (he is a lefty), he could pinch the rafters and do pullups, and he could do pushups on his thumbs.

But now the diet is a perpetual problem, especially when he is away from home.

It is 20' X 24', 2 stories high, and the framework is all Ash (one Cherry) 6.5" x 6.5" post + beam milled with the chainsaws.
