Well I thought I heard it all,
when its plugged enough to cause run issues,
take it off and replace it,
Sounds more like a sanitary towel manufacturer
than a saw manufacturer.
Last crowd I worked for with that mentallity,
I advised them to get into making dog food,
for they would have to work very hard to get that wrong.
I can assure you Stihl never wrote that down or printed it anywhere... Just some jackass talking through his hat. Remember this is the internet.

I would tend to agree, Stihl would well watch advising
people not to clean their filter, the replace part maybe.

Heard yestereday of a guy who has been using his
362 for 5 years full time in forestry work, he lives a bit away but
if I can I will call on him, nothing like hearing how
things work from those who use them most.
Dealer, (Not Stihl) said his only issue to date was a coil,
I would imagine that coil was not cheap though.

Regards, john

Yea me too.

I have a 362 OE. No problems ever with the filters. The air injection works fine and loads from the back of the recoil housing on the the top. Best Stihl saw to keep out the fines I have had yet to date. Most Stihls I see with fines inside the carb throat have a mesh backed carb box wall with the HD filter.

I hope to have no problems either with the airfilter,
just interesting to hear all the different opinions,
some seem to have problems, some none.
Time will tell.

Regards to all, john

I told my buddy who owns the dealership I buy from that I read that on the internet last night and he busted out laughing.

After talking with a Stihl sponsored chainsaw safety intructor. He said on his 362, Stihl told him to never take the filter off to clean it. Once it’s plugged enough to cause run issues, then replace the filter and retune. Every time you take the filter off, you have a chance to compromise the seal, according to him.

I've ran the piss out of my 362 OE and just greased a few places where I thought the fines would get through and it's just fine, I do think it was a *s-wordty design though.
