Think there is anything more you can get out of these 6100s? Cant wait to see how it does against the 562 both are great saws

Is all that carbon build up on the piston crown since you ported it or was some of it left over from the stock cylinder? I notice a fair bit of 'tongue' on the flow pattern, which can lead to short circuiting. However, what works is just that - what works. If the old pattern didn't have the tongue and the new pattern does, that may give an indication of where to go on these cylinders for better scavenging.

It looks there may still be some additional flow available from the reeds. If you look at the end of the reed tips you can see as the reeds start flowing out to the sides the flow runs into the vertical wall of the jug casting. Putting say a 45 degree angle on the backside of the casting will turn the flow in the direction it needs to go and prevent a wall of turbulence from building in front of the reed flow.

Are you going to try anything further with the carb?

For those unfamiliar with the 'tongue pattern' I referred to, it is that clear piston crown area from the back of the piston towards the exhaust port. What happens is the incoming transfer charge is building up over the piston instead of looping up the back of the cylinder. The clean area on the piston is the BOTTOM of that built up intake charge. The top of the charge is being subjected to the escaping exhaust gases and can get pulled out the exhaust port - thus the term 'short circuiting'.

Perhaps a boost port in the back of the cylinder would help to get that mass of incoming charge to move upwards and adhere to the back of the cylinder.

I'm going to post some pics of that carb, and see if we can figure it out as well as we did the EL42. Then decide if we can add a little more fuel to the transition circuit.

I've been playing with this saw for awhile, that is probably a half gallon of run time on the carbon tracking.

Remember, the reeds feed into the transfer port, not directly into the cylinder. Also, it is a quad port design, but they share a common passage with both uppers, and the strato intake. I expected the wash to be odd at best.

I have the 562 done. I'm going to crawl in a sweat lodge this evening though. I also have a 357XP sitting on the bench. 60cc shoot out?

Wait until you get the 620p ported and add it to the shootout:).
