Wilhelm,

Do you think you can make these? I have struck out with every machine shop.
No, I can not make those.
Too demanding for my limited skill and tool set.
Sorry!

And I can relate with the machine shops, only compiling programs to process those on a CNC would be time consuming.
Unless 100's are being made it would be expensive to even make prototypes.

What about 3D printing for something like that? Is there media now that can withstand the stress, unlike the early printers?

I doubt typical 3D printing would hold up to 10+k rpm , heat, shock loads and 4+hp.
It is still just plastics.

Metal 3D printing (weld shaping) might work, but who has such a machine and is willing to mess with making what us chainsaw folk desire?!

a 3/8 - 8T rim sprocket in small 7 spline?
I have been wanting to try an 8 tooth on my ported Dolmar 6100, and I just searched all over and can't find anyone selling or even making them. Am I missing something? I have too many chains to switch over to .325 pitch now, but I am guessing that's what guys must do to pick up speed on the ported 6100's.

.325 will actually provide slower chain speeds on same size rim because of the difference in driver spacing. I’m sure they change the od of the sproket to keep the ft/sec chain speed close between.325 and 3/8” (.375) but if both rim sproket od were the same the .325 would have less chain speed. You can calculate this with a l formula in a no load situation, the numbers won’t probably be as big a difference under load because of the .325 taking less bite than 3/8” so it probably won’t load the saw as much pulling the rpm down. What would be a nice thing for racing would be a narrow kerf 3/8” style cutter on a .404 chain chassis.

Why?

As I assumed, the spline hubs are identical on both the small spline 6100 drum and the large spline 7900 drum.

By knocking out the hubs on both drums one can insert the large spline hub into the smaller 6100 drum.
It'd need to be welded though.

Who is going to be first to run .404" 8 pin on their ported 5000 or 6100?

Can't tonight, called it a day for today.

Needle bearing can be pushed out, it is identical in both hubs.
The large spline hub is just missing it.

I am only mainly interested in the bore on the large spline hub. It appears to have some sort of a sleeve pressed in it. I have taken your picture and drawn a couple lines.

It is a single piece, just wear marks You are seeing. ;)

The old style PS-7900 clutch drum hub features a larger ID bore though - it had a much larger bearing than this flimsy one.

Bet a 50cc saw will just love .404, kinda think the reason nobody makes this stuff is because it’s not going to improve performance more than likely.
Nope, I don't expect performance improvement, its kind of like putting an 8" Milwaukee bar on a MS 170 and then making a 31 DL 3/8p .043 full skip chain...just because :D

Just wait till that PILTZ guy gets wind of this mod! 😅

Have YOU tried it?
No?
Then don't diss it!
We could get some awesome YouTube videos out of this, like dropping a tree straight on a trailer. 😜

In that case I think we need a large rim sprocket for 3/4” harvester chain to run on a ported 500i
