HELP! Makita DCS9000 Chain Brake

I’m having trouble reinstalling the chain brake. I have it pretty much put back together with the exception of the pin connecting the handle to the mechanism. I don’t really want to persuade it without verifying everything is positioned how it should be. Does anyone have a DCS900, that wouldn’t mind sharing a picture of theirs or does anyone have any experience with this one?

I am pretty sure that looks like the right location but is missing a piece I can't remember exactly. I can try to take the cover off mine later. I thought there was 2 pieces that went there and that pin that is not in wasn't supposed to come out it was made to the linkage

I see the piece underneath now looking closer. That is in the right spot. The roll pin goes in there I remember now thinking about it more. Try putting a punch or drill bit in and make sure you can pull the brake off first before driving in the roll pin then you know it is right. Plus it will be easier to put the roll pin in when the brake is not engaged

Thanks. I got it all put back together, but it is pretty hard to engage and makes a loud popping sound because it is hitting the pin on the case.

You might hit up @ray benson to see if he has a digital copy of the service manual for this model.

It is right. Put the clutch drum on and it will probably work better l

Sent him the Makita PS 9000 sm and the Dolmar DCS 9000 sm.

You can damage some saws by activating the brake too often without the drum on.

Another plus for chainsaws without chain brakes!!

You can damage some saws by activating the brake too often without the drum on.

Without the drum on the brake band can travel further, nothing to hold it back.

Hard brake engagement may not be too good, the loud clank is normal.
