Just to update you all, I ordered a Makita 6400.
I could not get a quote for the Echo CS 620,
and concluded the 6400 was the closest in power to it.

I almost had a 6100, but could not get an answer
from the seller regarding payment method,
not his fault I might add, more that the 6400 was going
going and would have been gone if I had not acted,
not many of them in my area, in fact I only found the one during my search.

So Wilhelm, as far I know the Dolmar 6100 I missed is available if you want
to add to your red head collection, i can point you to the seller, (dangle carrot).

Either way, A kind Regards & thanks to all who commented, john
My Dolmar PS-6400 has a special place in my heart and mind.
She's my first own saw, the only saw I have to date purchased new, and she was the most powerful saw I ran till I purchased my PS-7900 used in 2014.

When I say that I love this saw I'm not exaggerating. :icon12:

You can dangle that PS-6100 in front of my nose all day long, unless I could get her dirt cheap she just don't smell right! ;)

Can you get the new 665 solos where your at?
How much?
I thought solo was out of business? Or is that saw nos?
I posted prices somewhere already, but here You go:
Solo 665 = 1030€
Solo 675 = 1050€
Solo 681 = 1150€

Solo is now property of AL-KO, whoever they are.
All the Solo saws now say Solo by AL-KO.

Hi Wilhalm
I am pleased you like the 6400, the image of mine shows no
Spark arrestors screen on the muffler, the saw is a PS 6400,
so am hopong there is no EPA restricted muffler on it,
that should give it a good boost, either way, it will be plenty strong for my jobs.

Those Solo saws look real nice, pricey, but if the video I seen of one cutting is for real
then they are a top saw, no link as I could not find them to buy so gave up on drooling
over them on you tube.
Edited this our times now, somebody mentioned Amish girls on another thread
and I can't consintrate at all.

It's easy enough to figure out whether the muffler is hollow, SLR or CAT.
The hollow muffler only features a birdcage inside, as such one can easily look through the bird cage to the mufflers outlet opening.

Even if Your PS-6400 happens to come with an EPA restricted muffler it can be gutted with a little bit of work.

My Dolmar PS-6400 has a stock non EPA muffler, my Dolmar PS-7310 has a stock SLR muffler (for now  ) and my Dolmar PS-7900 has a mildly modified non EPA muffler.
They all have one muffler outlet hole and feature the stock spark screen arrestor screens.

Make sure to post some pictures once You get Your PS-6400! :)

Thanks for commenting Wilhelm.
I hope there is a birdcage only muffler on this saw, save me working on it, will post some pictures when it arrives.

Ok, update.
Thank's to ajschainsaws a member on here, I just recieived a Dolmar 6100
in the post.
Came exactly on time, and with some extras thrown in.
Will get her running in a few days, first impression is, why
did I not get this size of saw in the first place.

In any event, dealing with ajschainsaws was painless.

I mention this because I had a Makita 6400 bought and
the seller did the dirty, only today after paying on the 12 th of this
month for an item they never had in the first place,
and endless emails since, have they notified me they refunded me.
Nothing in the bank yet to prove this though, so will give a little more
time before commenting any further, absolute nightmare company.

Hope your looking in Wilhelm, My First Dolmar / Red head in the family.

Thanks ajschainsaws & Regards, john

Congratulations on Your new saw!
There is no doubt that the PS-6100 is a great saw.
Pictures or it didn't happen!

I've been eyeballing a used PS-7300 in the local classifieds for a while now, she's calling out to me, wants to join the family.

Would make a good edition, seeing as you have three similar saws.
Wonder what models Dolmar / Makita have in the pipe line, are we in
for some fuel injection, or a WONDERFUL MT or AT system variant.
Would it not be something if Dolmar / Makita made a better one,
that would shift some customers.

Regards, john

Different spike than what we have in the U.S.
Hi porsche965
We do seem to get the bare minimum here form the manufacturers,
If I recall right, they spikes shown on the Dolmar sited do look larger,
but for my tasks, it wont be an issue.

The 6400 Morphed, she is now a Red head, 6100, had a let down
from a nightmare seller, so ended up with a Dolmar 6100 from ajschainsaws, and posted a few images of it.
The Muffler I bought from a Dolmar 7900, it arrived, and it only has
a section from the inlet that has a bunch of holes in it, I think it is just
the bird cage you mentioned, can see right to the outlet.
Will do a post when I get it fitted, in no hurry untill I get a Tachometer,
I have a feeling there will be more noise, more rpm, and with that limited
coil, I want to ensure I get the fuelling right.

Thanks Wilhelm.

Wilhelm, hope there is a cure for Dolamtitis, or your
in trouble.
I've added one more to my stable, a used and abused Dolmar PS-7300! :)

I admit it, I have a problem.

I don't have much luck purchasing unseen used saws.
This one is also abused like nothing I have ever seen - will slap me good on my wallet to bring her back to former glory.

My PS-7900 is still the queen, had her buck oak firewood logs last week - simply hypnotizing!

Anxious to see how the PS-7300 & PS-7310 will compare to the PS-7900.

Hi Wilhellm, your a brave man.
I certainly hope this saw works out well for you.
They are a good size of saw, and probably no need no muffler mod due to the less CC's
being able to escape when their work is done, through the same hole a 7900 is expected to.

Thats one nice thing I see in some Stihl's, the way the Two parts of the muffler are bolted,
instead of folded, sure makes easy access for modding.

Have you much work to do to get her right, hopefully it wont be too expensive.

Best wishes, john

So far identified issues:
- clutch assy needs replacing, as in weights and drum, clutch drum needle bearing shot
- oil pump not oiling, oil leakage coming from under the clutch, oil volume screw head broken off
- lots of chain slap rash
- muffler boogered and poorly fixed
- third top muffler bolt broken in cylinder thread
- cylinder cover and chain brake flag have heat damage, molten plastic
- cylinder AV mount broken
- the outside of the saw was thoughroughly cleaned for the pictures, underneath any and all covers everything is infested with molten rubber that vulcanized itself to the saws surfaces

Tested and deemed good:
- engine starts, idles and blips good
- piston and piston ring look good
- nothing appears to be bent like it was the case with my PS-7310

She requires attention, I'll replace everything I need to restore her.
