Sounds nice Brewz, those are cuttin' machines when they are set up right. Curious how you did the timing advance since the flywheel key is cast into the flywheel.

I couldn't really measure mine like you can on a removeable key like on a 026/036. It was more by eye for me.

I rocked the flywheel back and forth on the crank shaft and marked the points it went to, then filed a bit from the key in the flywheel and checked how much further around it went.

Once I got an extra 5mm of rotation I locked it up at that.

Not sure how many degrees it is and I didn't measure the flywheel to work it out, but it goes good

I gave it the muffler mod last night, opening up the baffle a bit, completely removing the metal under the screen and opening up the outlet on the deflector plate.
I didn't want to take the deflector plate too far and end up melting the side off the chain cover.

The carb came off and got US cleaned.
Ground off the H screw limiter as it did nothing with the limiter in place.

Will advance the timing this arvo when I get home from work and see how it goes once tuned.
Exactly how I did mine. Just opening the muffler and a little time advance does wonders on this saw.

I actually bought an extra flywheel in case I had goofed it up. If anyone goofs I do have a spare available.
There's really no reason to worry. The key is just for alignment purposes. If you take to much off, you can just rotate it back and tighten it down. The crank taper and proper torque will keep it in place.

Agreed!
It actually already had about 5 degrees of slop in the keyway, I just increased it

The limiter tab on the H jet was a big change.
It was rich no matter where I set within it's limited adjustment range.
Runs much better once you can tune the saw properly
