Do you all feed them up in the fall too bring them for the winter or are they fairly
Independent and travel around alot
I'll feed them during a real hard winter but most will go to lower elevations (river flats)when things get tuff. The snow normally isn't as deep so food is easier to find.

Other than that they do well on their own.

Fall season is coming up here. In the fall, we can take hens so I'm planning to put one in the freezer. Some folks say turkeys are less responsive to calls and decoys in the fall. Do you find this to be true? I know where they roost and travel at my place, and may try for an ambush or spot and stalk.

Same rules here, but we can use rifles in the fall, so calling is not as important. If you can find their roost, walk or better yet, run up to them right at shooting time. As they scatter make yourself still right close to the area and start giving intermittent calls. They will often think you are the lead bird and gather back in. Don't overdo the calling.

Fall season can be some of the best hunting. If you know where there roosting, brake them up and sit and just some easy yelps and get ready. You get your pick. My farm I even had some boys gobble coming in. Very rare.

Didn't Pa just start Sunday hunting? I left in the late 1990s and they were still pretty strict. A lot of big boys up there. I still have one of the first push button Steve Morocco made and sold to Quaker Boy.

I haven't heard that. But then they are too cheap to give a regulations book with our license anymore.

only thing we can hunt on sundays are crows, foxes and coyotes. sunday hunting has to be passed into law by the state legislature.

We had no fun things whatsoever legal on Sunday for decades. I think those laws are still on the books but court decisions have declared them null and void. My grandfather usually refused to hunt on Sunday, thinking it was bad luck. I soooo hope we can get a rifle season for turkey at some point.

On my own land, I would do it anyway. If cited, I would plead it all the way to the supreme court. We had a sunday closing law for nearly all businesses until the early 1980's. Someone took it all the way to our supreme court and got it declared unenforceable.

Open season on yotes here 7 days a week, ( choot- um ) or trap um! They are calf killing pests. Several county's have now allowed the use of high powered rifles just for coyotes only, Esp. King George Va. and on Sunday! ( choot-um all! )
