4yr+ dead Maple, finally dropped a big branch on the guy's house. Ins only paid the tree service to "safe" what was left.
Big pile of debris and a 12' X 5' stump.
I'm helping him finish...
395, muffler mod, 50", 52AJ

Roofers finished up last week...

Edit:
David…I tried my muffler modded, BGD 288 with the same bar. It was not at all happy :p it did finally make it through the first round, but…🤪

Bunch of Siberian elm and an ash. The Siberian is more like cottonwood. Fibers choke the bar n chain.
You must have some weirdass version of Siberian Elm down there :p
I’ve cut a lot of it here…never been a problem and never even remotely like the local Cottonwood…that I’ve cleared entire groves of…left over from the Boise pulp mill days.

It shore ain’t hard wood. Maybe a little harder than cottonwood. But full of water stringy and stinky. On a golf course. You gotta keep in mind I’m coming from live oak (usually dead and baked) and red gum eucalyptus. Doesn’t hinge like I read elm is supposed to. More like cottonwood and salt cedar.

Yup, some weirdass Elm, lol

Best hardwood here is black and Honey Locust, several varieties of Maple and Siberian Elm. There are maybe 100 Oak trees in the entire Boise area and Euch can’t handle the climate. Believe it or not, the most popular firewood here is Red Fir, lol. $370-500/ cord. I hate Fir…
Cottonwood (Poplar, other pulp woods) goes for around $100 less/cord and, when dry, is less than half the weight of the local S Elm.

Currently burning Maple and S Elm.

Your pics look nothing like what we have here. It does look similar to the local Russian Olive I’ve cut which is nasty to work with and even worse when dry.
