Let’s see some stumps

I call it “slick the stump”. The tree has a fair bit of forward lean. So pretty much bore all the way around it, leaving the trigger flares at the back. Cut flair one then the main flair, and over it goes.

Red Oak, a brittle wood so shallow face cut angle & Humboldt territory for me, plus it was on a hill side. Next round will have a few of these even bigger

My brother in law and I have been cutting wood together for years and he still insists on hacking away like a beaver. He didn’t want to cut the larger ash down so I got after it with the ‘ol 026.

Here , for the "Humboldt" types Works with relatively "brittle" Red Oak where it would create fiber pulls like crazy on Ash/Maple

Hinge back into the tree closer to center & conventional cut from the back to chase the hinge...pulled out as the bar didn't get thru. NO trigger as I was chasing the hinge. As I went to reposition stuff, it decided to go... a bunch of stuff to be derived from this video....

Three scenario's. First "What I prefer to do", Second took away a couple of pieces & had a "flat" stump with predictable results, third heavy hinge w/ no bore cut from the front, again with less predictable but in reality very predictable in this maple stuff results.

Best way to look at a stump is from the bottom !!


This one is almost the size of the skiddy. I knew when I dug it out I’d have to either get the excavator back out or bring the 844 loader over to make it disappear lol

Big nasty codominate dead Dutch Elm taken down today. Cut the individuals off first ….


Then the 066 made short work of the base stump. This was a fun one to cut up !!

Not my best work but one of two today. This alder needed to go about 90 degrees from where it wanted to be (on the roof of a building) so it came over via winch hence the extra jumbo holding wood.
